Introduce teachers to the purpose of the science standards and familiarize them with the overall layout of the standards document. Teachers should understand that the standards have been revised to include fewer topics that should be taught at greater depth.
Expose teachers to thecontent domain standards, paying particular attention to the vertical alignment of the document. Teachers should understand that the standards in each grade band serve as building block understandings for future grade levels.
Teachers should understand the EALR 1 systems standards and be able to recognize where their materials provide opportunities to teach students the systems standards.
